that was belize...

and it was nice!! see some pictures from caye caulker, the island off 40 minutes from belize city, where i stayed!
with this bus i went from mexico to belize

on the way to caye caulker

"the split"
the split was "created" by a hurricane a few years ago. it split the island into two - you can see the other part on the left. in the split bar, the house you see, i watched the champions league final a few days later!!
the main street!!

i am far away...!

one day i went with a bike around the island - it took about half an hour!
probably the best thing i did in caye caulker (besides the champions league final!) was a snorkeling trip! we were a group of about 10 people, and went to 4 different spots snorkeling! we saw some turtels, sea cows with children, and a huge variety of fish! some just silver, but quite big, and some in the most amazing colours! it was really amazing!! and in one spot there were sharks as well-see the next picture! they were many, but not dangerous for humans! it was nice to swim with them and see them so close...
sharks at our last spot!!

view from my guesthouse

the water is really clean!

champions league final

it was a good match...!
i think, like probably most of you, i would have chosen these two teams for the final! and it was a good match...and a good place to watch it!
the beach..and the bar where i watched
i left the island on sunday after the fnal, and first went to belize city. its said to be a dangerous place in the night. and there are, as on the islands, many dreadlocks around...and many strange people! he was the best person i met in belize city!!
"a friend"

in belize city
from belize city (the biggest town of the country) i took the bus to belmopan, the capital of belize. it has got 15.000 (thats no mistake!!) inhabitants, and is the smallest capital of the world. the books, and everybody who has been there, said it was not worth a visit. but i chose to wait for the next bus and explore the capital...what i regreted like 10 minutes ago, when i had seen everything!
in belmopan
thats how interesting it was...! but its quite funny parking lots for the ministers i think!!
i continued to san ignacio, where i went swimming...in a river that comes from guatemala!
this river comes from guatemala...which was my next destination!

swimming with the locals

everywhere austria!!
the next day in the morning i went to some ruins, callen xunantunich, about 3 km close to the border.
the ferry to xunantunich

the pictures above were taken from the ruin in the rare

one of the last things i saw in belize!

it took about 10 minutes to the boarder...and soon i was in guatemala! this you will see in the next post!
right now i am in san pedro, on lake atitlan, about 4 hours by bus to the west of guatemala city! its a nice place, i am taking spanish classes, and tomorrow i will climd a vulcano...my second one, because we climbed one 2 days ago as well...you will see soon!
