a great day for uganda!!

today was a great day for uganda - a guy called stephen kiprotich won the marathon at the olympics! it was the first medal for uganda - so i feel a bit like "my country" has won a medal today! well done and regards to all my friends in uganda!!!
all i followed from the olympics was the sailing of the 49er... unfortunately it was not meant to be this time, nickos... but rio is coming, i hope you can keep your energy and motivation up for another four years?! anyways, becoming 4th is pretty amazing! congratulations for that - if you ever happen to read that!

see some pictures from the last weeks!

some weeks ago i went to visit a different orphanage.
the responsible guy with some of the kids

its raining now almost every day

some years ago it was a school - from where the other orphanage started

now we have water everywhere - and its so green!
the bewitched man i told you about, was brought to hospital with our car. here you see his family preparing for the journey to tamale, 120 km to the south
preparing

winter in my fridge!!

we gave some clothes we do not need to the poorest of the community
as i said its still reiny season, which is nice because the air is clean, its cold, and its green. one of the disadvantages of the heavy rain is that all streets get spoilt. have a look your self
no more road for cars

this village you can reach by foot, with bike or motorbike...thats it!

a chameleon

andarea, the volunteer that stayed longest...but also left already
last week the last 2 volunteers left, soon some other white people are going to come here. but its also really fine as it is now
many times i am amazed by the trees!!
like here again!
its rainy season - meaning its farming season. we also have a farm, where we are farming maize and beans. our children help on the farm - because thats actually the reason we have it. the children should be prepared for their life like if they would live with their families...and with the families they would spend a lot of time on the farm -and learn a lot. we hope our children will get the same knowledge in the future!
some of our children
a big thing in the past weeks was to renovate  room, so that it can become my office. we finished last week, and now i have my own office! and can recieve guests officially! so you are welcome...!
putting some certificates of the NGO onto my wall.
hope you are all doing well, have a nice sunday,

what the hell is happening in syria?

these days it is not easy for me to follow what is happening in the world. but as often as i am online i try to get updated about things on our planet... i read about suicide bombings in afghanistan, iraque, i read about these people from boko-haram in nigeria, attacking churches...and i read about syria, about daily massacres, about many UN resolutions where they talk about how bad the situation is, they talk...and talk...and send people from the UN there...and bring them away again because it is too dangerous... but nothing justifies to interact? to help these people who are slaughtered in masses?? do we have to witness all this without acting?? can we accept that?!

we are all aware whats going on - and we just look. what the fuck??!

we have many examples in history, even recent ones with nazi germany, with serbia, with rwanda...where i have been, where in 3 month about 1 million tutsi were killed WHILE the UN peace keeping mission was there...on a peace keeping mission, without the mandate to use the weapon if they were not endangered themselfes. they were watching how a million people was slaughtered. i have visited rwanda, have seen a mass grave for 259.000 people, have seen destroyed churches from granades, i have seen the survuvers with their scars everywhere. at least the older generations were aware about it... you can see pictures in my blog, go to january 2012, there are my rwanda pictures.

by the time of all these incidents i was too small to know whats going on - but now i am old enough to understand whats going on... and to "understand" why it is justified in some countries in help (e.g. lybia), while we just watch in different counties how an evil bastard is killing his people. and the UN are there, but besides actively helping they are just commenting it.

i dont know how we could solve the problem, but at least i know that in times of the internet nobody is able to use the same excuse like generations before used - that they were not aware. we all know that the assad regime is killing innocent people every day...arent we?!

dont know exactly what to do, but to do nothing is probably the worst...

sorry, i do not want to be political here, but its really annoying me to read almost every time i access the internet that there were new meetings with in the UN with NO outcome (at least not the outcome that safes lives). today i read that now all UN people had to leave the city of aleppo because its too dangerous.  i wander when (if ever) it is time for the UN to really to act...

anyways, besides this i am fine, today the last volunteer girl left, so now i am the only suliminga in the village. its gonna be fine, its not the first time for me to have a situation like this!!

hope you are all doing well! and by the way, the boy i showed you the pictures in the last post, he is still alive. we brought him to a hospital in walewale, but immedoiately decidet to bring him to tamale. its the district capital, with a huge hospital. i am going to visit him today...and it really seems that he will survive - which we honestly questionned a bit when we went to hospital with him. but now we are all very happy for him!

take care, and enjoy life!

no malaria, no typhoid fever

it has been a long time, i hope you are all doing well!

here in ghana it is fine, we have  a new president, and i did not have malaria or typhoid fever. the day after my post i went to hospital to check for the deseases. it was interesting to be there in hospial, but i hope to aviod being there too often!! anyways, i had some big problems with my stomach, but its fine again!

see some pictures about some things that happened in the previous weeks!
a backgammon which i made
muslim women after visiting the mosque
some weeks ago we were invited to a muslim wedding. it was really interesting to attend this function!
see some pictures from the wedding

on the way from the brids house to the husbands
husband siblim with his 3rd wife

always pictures with the suliminga are welcome
for some days we had sheep to cut our grass inside the compound!

our cat playing with a frog - in the rainy season there are so many frogs here

women selling fish on the road side

the chief in a different village

chiefs palace
the corn is growing higher

as you can imagine fromn the clouds - its still rainy season

i also went to see a different chief and he was so happy to see me that he gave me a big present: 7 eggs and an alive chicken! the chicken was totally white, i am not sure if there is a connection to my colour !!!
me driving - in the bigger cities it can be stressfull, due to chaos on the roads
from inside our car

a woman transporting coal

different transport
at the trafic light i wanted to curve to the left. it was green, so i went to into the junction. suddenly 3 policemen entered the car on the back seat, and one came to teh window. they were really angry and unfriendly, accusing me to have entered the junction even though red light - but thats not true, they wanted to get money from the white man. they told me to drive to the police station, but i refused and said i call my boss. as soon as they were speaking to him, they calmed down, but still we had to go with them. at the police station, after a second phone call, we recieved a warning and could leave without paying... it was quite a bad situation, you do not know how many rights you have if you have any at all?!)...and its not a country where you want to mess with the police
this is the chicken i recieved as a present
but some days go i salughtered it and we had  barbecue. it was the first time in my life to do this, what i have done with so many fish already, with a chicken...it was a bit funny, but ok
to feel more comfortable i bought a sofa!

some days ago a man in my village died. we learned that he died, but not in the normal way - he was killed by a witch from my village. after he died people gathered and wanted to burn down the house of the witch. her good luck is that she is part of the chiefs family, so she is untouchable.
in the evening we were invited to see this boy, who is also a victim of the witch. he was bewitched more then a year ago, but 2 weeks ago the witch put fire under his feet - thats why they look like this. and this boy knew in advance that the other man would die...and told people in the night before. because he is bewitched he is getting slim, and also the medicine is not working - the witch takes it all.
it is really interesting, and people have a strong belive that witches exist - it doesnt matter if the people are illiterates or recieved good education!

anyways, we brought that bewitched man to hospital.
...it really looks a bit scary
yesterday one of the volunteer girls left - so there is just one left. and she is leaving next week, so there will be some days where i will be the only white person around. but its going to be fine, i have no problem with that!

have a good day, sevi
some animals are huge and look interesting!
