myanmar part III

so...now it should work again!
here the last pictures i wanted to post in the previous post!
this family lived next to us
the small girl was really funny! always when we came to our place and left our flip flops somewhere she came and put them extremely carefully next to each other. sometimes she tried to clean the blanket on which i was sleeping (which was directly on the floor). and she always wanted to interact with us. one day we had dices, and like this she told me the burmese numbers...te, ne, do, le, nga, cha,... by the way a erally good and easy way to learn the numbers (by playing with dices!)
check out the feet...of our army man

this small boy played the drum - as you can see

a normal view

another small friend of ours

this was to be the biggest stupa in myanmar, but was never finished
after some time, the people got more used to us, and so they started to offer us a lot of food. all of them cooked on the boat. one day i came back from toilet and passed a family who was eating (like in nepal, india and myanmar people - and i! - eat rice with their hands). the mother of time family (no one spoke english) offered me some rice - she held the pot out of which she was eating in my direction. i could not refuse, so i took a hand full of rice...and then a hand full of salad. everybody was happy that i joined their meal, i went upstairs (with extremely oily hands) and the family continued eating. a few month ago i could not have imagined a situation like this - and now its hardly worth mentioning! (and yes mum, when i come home - one day!- i will eat with fork and knife again!...actually here in thailand i had to do it again, because around here nobody uses their hands to eat rice...!)
what a perfect description of myanmar
this would have been the end of the last post...7 pics!
we arrived back in mandalay, and on the next day we headed east so hispaw, for some trekking. some things went wrong with the trekking guide (we were more or less forced to take a guide - not necessary!!) and the guesthouse (dont trust the guide book too much...who or what ever is mentioned in the guidebook is often not that good (anymore?!)) But one thing was extremely good and recommended...if anyone ever goes to mandalay, please stay in royal guest house...was the best place to stay!!
ok...hispaw...me and flo and our non english guide went trekking, it was supposed to be 3 days 2 nights. we did not know that "non english guide" means that the personis actively avoiding to speak english...or just speak what ever language. our guide, tu, was always at least 20 steps in front of us, no matter how fast or slow we walked!! better i show some pics than telling you more about this idiot!

many of these people look much more fascinating with their mouth open because they either have dark (because of chewing betle nut Pan in india) or no teeth...thats the reason why this guy also has this funny expression...hiding his teeth (or whats left of them)
water buffalo
